Starting a New Conversation

To begin working with an AI assistant, start by selecting New Conversation located at the top left corner of the Hallian AI interface. This opens a fresh chat window where you can interact with the AI assistant.


Selecting a Search Index

Once you have a new conversation open, the next step is to select a Search Index from the dropdown menu. The search index determines the dataset or collection of documents the AI will use to find relevant information. We are going to use an example of an HR Policy Index that has access to internal HR policies for an organization.

After selecting the desired search index, click on it to activate it for your current conversation.

Asking Questions and Searching

With the search index selected, you can now type your question into the input box. For example, you might ask:

"I have been at the company for five years. How much PTO do I have?"

After typing your question, click the upward facing arrow button to submit it.
